Mid and North Wales Youth Day - "Tomorrow Starts Today"

Telford Ghana Church was the host for the Mid and North Wales Youth Day, providing a special opportunity for young people living in these regions to come together for an event closer to home. The day brought together young people from across Wales, particularly from Mid and North Wales, as well as guests who travelled from as far as London.

The day began with a lively and engaging Sabbath School discussion. Young people and adults rearranged the chairs into smaller groups as they explored an important question: Why are young people leaving the church, and what makes others choose to stay? The discussion was led by Josephine and Armando and provided an opportunity for both generations to share their perspectives openly. The conversations were passionate and honest, with both young people and adults actively engaging with the issues being discussed.

The theme for the Divine Service was “Tomorrow Starts Today,” focusing on the impact that the choices we make today can have on our future. The message encouraged the young people to recognise that their future is not something they simply arrive at—it is shaped by the decisions, habits and priorities they establish today.

Music was another highlight of the day, with powerful singing from the Telford Ghana Church Choir, alongside musical contributions from the group "Harmonies" and Julia and Henrique Matos of Telford Central. Their ministry through music added to the atmosphere of worship and encouraged the congregation to praise God together.

Sister Crystal from Llandudno Junction also shared an encouraging testimony of God’s miraculous protection and providence during her time living in Ghana. Her testimony reminded everyone of God's faithfulness and His ability to guide and protect His children, even in circumstances beyond their control.

Lunch was thoughtfully organised by Telford Central and Telford Ghana Churches. The meal offered a wonderful variety of food, ranging from sandwiches to an assortment of Caribbean and African cuisine. The diversity of food reflected the diversity of the people gathered together and provided another opportunity for fellowship and connection.

In the afternoon, Sister Shola delivered a presentation on “Knowing the Will of God.” The presentation prompted several questions and led to meaningful discussion as the young people explored how they can recognise and follow God's direction in their lives.

It was truly a high day in Zion, and many left feeling blessed, encouraged and challenged by the timely messages, honest conversations, worship and fellowship. The Mid and North Wales Youth Day was a wonderful reminder of the importance of creating spaces where young people can come together, ask difficult questions, strengthen their faith and encourage one another as they walk with God.
