Ystrad Mynach Family Fun Day
It was the 4th of May, Monday Bank Holiday. God did it again!
I left my home early in the morning and made my way to the Park where Ystrad Mynach church members were going to hold their second Family Fun Day for the community. The rain was pouring down and I got a message from a Park staff member asking if we were going ahead with our event. So I went forward in faith praying and asking God that He will hold the rain clouds back again (as He did before). And so He did! The rain stopped and later the rays of sunshine broke through the clouds.
We had a wonderful and blessed day as the Ystrad Mynach church members and friends fellowshipped together with a multitude of families and individuals from the community. Among the activities on the day, we had a bouncy castle, football match, children’s arts and crafts, Pathfinder’s drum core (Cardiff church), Pathfinders Honours / Activities (making their own Jesus keyrings), smoothie bike supplying fresh nutritious drinks, all topped off with free vegan burgers for everyone who turned up from the surrounding area.
The feedback received from the community during the conversations we had on the day was filled with appreciation for the ministry and service offered to them. As not much was happening in and around the local area for the families, not only did they express their gratitude to us but also, they asked us to come again, along with enquiries as to what other activities we are doing as a church locally. Parents and children came to offer us heartfelt donations for the work and free service we offered to them on the day.
The Reflecting Hope book stand with Bible study leaflets was visited by a few genuine seekers for God and the Bible, where we had good conversations about how to better understand God’s Word. While others wanted to find out more about who we are and what Reflecting Hope is all about.
We praise the Lord for another blessed day where God was ministering to the hearts of many in our midst. Let us pray that the Lord will continue to bless and water the seeds planted in their hearts.
This day would not have happened and been a success without the help and support of volunteers from other churches in the Welsh Mission. Special heartfelt thanks go to Cardiff church and the Pathfinders team, Swansea and Newport church members, the Merthyr Tydfil church plant group, Pastor Jeremy Johnson and everyone from Ystrad Mynach church and friends. This event has been a wonderful reminder of what God can do when churches come together in a united effort to make an impact in the villages and towns of Wales and its bordering counties. Let’s continue to press on together with the Good News of Hope in Jesus until He comes again!
